State Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts
(Honoring Florida Craftsmen's 50th Anniversary)
Eric Lang Peterson has been a certified appraiser of art and antiques for 50 years. His education, knowledge and experience have made him an acute observer of the art scene and an expert "identifier" and collector of emerging Florida artists. Among the many fortunates who have benefited from Eric's discerning eye, enduring support, and willingness to take a risk are Mernet Larsen, Robert Calvo, Rocky Bridges, Josette Urso, Grady Kimsey, and James Michaels, all Florida artists who have gone on to national acclaim and notable accomplishment.
Many museums, art centers, and other institutions have also benefited from Eric's unflagging dedication to the arts. He has made numerous donations to them from his personal collection, has served on their boards, curated their exhibitions, and provided informal guidance in myriad intangible ways. He is listed in Who's Who in America.
Eric has served as president of The Arts Center, Arts Coordinator of St. Petersburg's 1988 Centennial, member of the City of St. Petersburg Arts Advisory Committee, member of the exhibitions committee of Florida Craftsmen, Administrator of the St. Petersburg Museum of History, and member of the Pinellas County Historical Commission. He curated the permanent collection of The Poynter Institute for Media Studies and the Stetson College of Law Library, and is installations designer of the annual Temple Beth-EI Art Festival.
